How to Compare Hong Kong Company Secretary Fees: Six Things to Check
Annual company secretary fees range widely, mostly because of what is included. Six things to check: annual return filing, government fee, registered address, significant controllers register, minutes and renewal price.
Short answer: Don’t compare the headline fee alone. Check whether the annual return is prepared and filed for you, the HK$105 government fee is included, the registered address is extra, the significant controllers register and minutes are covered, and what the second-year renewal costs.
Six things to ask
| Item | Ask |
|---|---|
| Annual return (NAR1) | Prepared and filed for you, with reminders of the 42-day deadline? |
| Annual return government fee | Is the HK$105 included? |
| Registered address | Included, or charged separately? |
| Significant controllers register | Prepared and kept up to date? Designated representative extra? |
| Minutes and resolutions | Are the yearly written resolutions included? |
| Renewal price | Same price from year two? Any automatic renewal? |
Common extra charges in low-price plans
- A separate fee for filing the annual return;
- Monthly charges for the address or mail handling;
- A fee per change of director, shareholder or address;
- A higher renewal price;
- “Document fees” when you leave.
